Through the support of 345 donors, we were able to establish a fully equipped library serving over 2,500 students in Kibera. This facility has become a beacon of learning in the community.
The Kibera Community Library Project started with a simple dream: to provide quality educational resources to students in Africa's largest urban settlement. What began as a modest campaign quickly gained momentum as donors from across the globe recognized the transformative potential of this initiative.
With the raised funds, we were able to:
• Renovate an existing community center
• Stock over 5,000 books across various subjects
• Install 20 computer workstations with internet access
• Create dedicated study spaces and reading areas
• Hire and train local staff
Today, the library serves as more than just a place to read - it's a community hub where students can access online courses, participate in reading clubs, and receive homework support. The impact has been particularly significant for secondary school students preparing for their national exams.
